Ridley Scott’s multi-award-decorated sci-fi The Martian was a huge hit, and featured a typically charismatic performance from Matt Damon as abandoned astronaut Mark Watney. One that won him a Jameson Empire Award, no less.
Watney is thought dead and left behind on Mars by his crewmates after a storm forces them to abandon their mission early. He has limited food, a shelter designed to last just 31 days, and no way of contacting Earth. Somehow he has to find a way to survive, then attempt to somehow signal to NASA that he’s still alive.
This October, it’ll be re-released on DVD and Blu-ray in a new version, with 13 minutes of extra footage. But the first (and possibly only) time you’ll be able to watch it on the big screen, is at Empire Live.
The Martian Extended Edition is available on Blu-ray and DVD from Monday 3rd October, cert. TBC.
