More dystopian alternative-reality thrills are on their way with Amazon’s The Man In The High Castle returning for a second season. In advance of its December launch, the show has a new portent-laden trailer to share below.

If you haven’t seen the first go-round, the Philip K. Dick-inspired sci-fi posits a world in which the Allies have lost World War II and the United States is under the Nazi jackboot. Now joining the anti-Axis resistance is Juliana Crain (Alexa Davalos), a Pacific coast dweller eager to avenge the death of a loved one and, in cahoots with boyfriend Frank Frink (Rupert Evans), looking to take the fight to the occupiers. Rufus Sewell's John Smith also returns.

Season 2 of The Man In The High Castle has Japan and Germany, twin occupying powers across the continent, at loggerheads. Japan is developing its own atomic weapon and the peace treaty between the two nations seems to be crumbling. According to the synopsis: "A butterfly effect is triggered whereby just one small action has the potential for wide-scale impact”.

Season 1 of The Man In The High Castle arrives on Amazon on 16 December. Read Empire’s review of Season 1 here.
