X-Philes rejoice! You may have missed the appearance of so-called 'thinking man's totty' Gillian Anderson when she made her West End stage debut last year, but you'll get a second chance to live your dream when she returns two short months from now. After gaining rave reviews for her role in What The Night Is For, Anderson will once more grace our capital's stage in the first run of The Sweetest Swing In Baseball, playing from 31 March at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs. Despite sounding suspiciously sport-orientated, the play is rather the story of a burnt-out artist who winds up in a mental institution. Another character called Dana (just hear the fans' excitement), Anderson's artist is the toast of the art world, until her latest exhibition flops and a resulting breakdown leads her to seek psychiatric help. With her insurance only willing to shell out for ten days' care, Dana draws upon American baseball icon Darryl Strawberry (he of the titular talent) to see her through. Tickets go on sale from 26 January so book soon - the play is only showing until 1 May.
