Ant-Man

When Marvel's Phase 4 (and, to a much more limited extent, elements of Phase 5) were announced this year, one series of films with an actor that still has a contract at the studio was notable by its omission: Ant-Man. Now, though, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that a third outing for Paul Rudd's hero is closer to happening as director Peyton Reed is signed to return.

Reed made the first two Ant-Man movies which, while they've been lower in terms of box office performance, introduced the world to the charming antics of Rudd (plus Michael Douglas' Hank Pym and, more centrally, Evangeline Lilly's Wasp/Hope Van Dyne) and spawned characters that have crossed over into Avengers films.

There are no details yet as to what the story might be, though with time having moved on after The Blip, that'll no doubt come up. According to the Reporter's story, the aim is to have the film in production at the end of next year or early 2021 for a potential 2022 release.
