The year might not quite be over yet, but James Cameron and the Avatar sequel team are already wrapping things up for 2019, at least in terms of live-action shooting. And to mark that occasion, the films' official Twitter account posted a new picture.

It's a behind-the-scenes shot from filming, featuring a new craft from the film – the Sea Dragon. We know, we know, we're surprised as anyone that a James Cameron film would feature a seagoing craft. (NB: Sarcasm).

In fact, we already know that at least the next film will feature a lot of underwater action, as the story introduces some of the Na'vi water tribes who populate Pandora. It's also a return for Sam Worthington's Jake and Zoe Saldana's Neytiri, who have had a family and face down some new human threats to their world and beyond.

Avatar 2 is scheduled to land on 17 December 2021, with its fellow sequels arriving in 2023, 2025 and 2027.
