Ben Stiller is in talks to replace Mark Ruffalo in Greenburg, the latest comedy drama from **Squid & The Whale **writer-director Noah Baumbach.

Although it hasn’t been made explicit, it would seem that Ruffalo has understandably exited the project following the tragic death of his brother, Scott, on Monday. Empire’s thoughts are with Ruffalo and his family at this time.

If Stiller signs on to the movie, the plot of which is being kept under wraps, it will mark his most serious role in some time. Amy Adams had also been cast in the movie, but it is believed she has dropped out.

Baumbach, who also directed Margot At The Wedding, and producer Scott Rudin are looking for a replacement, as well as potential financiers/distributors.
