It’s the moment Bill And Ted fans have been waiting for for nearly three decades – the Wyld Stallyns are returning in long-long-long-awaited threequel Bill & Ted Face The Music, and now the first trailer has dropped. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are back as the whacked-out time-hopping slacker duo – and it seems time is catching up with them, their destiny of writing a song that will unite the world now perilously close with little to show for it. Watch the teaser here.

Whoa. Well doesn’t this look excellent? Reeves and Winter slipping back into their old roles all these years later, William Sadler popping up again as death, and the promise of all kinds of fun time-travelling and alternate-reality-traversing. Then there are brief glimpses of Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as the duo’s daughters, a beefed-up Bill and Ted all tattooed up in some potential-future prison, and plenty of guitar squeals on the soundtrack.

It’s just a brief glimpse for now, but enough to know that this looks like the big, goofy fun we’re all going to need post-lockdown. And from the writers of the original films, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, and Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot at the helm, it seems we’re in safe hands. The film is currently due for release on 21 August – stay tuned for the latest Covid-19 cinema updates to see if it can hold on to that date. One thing’s for sure: when cinemas do open again, we’ll all be ready to party on.
