It's been a long wait for fans of Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan, also known as the musical powerhouse Wyld Stallyns. It got to the point where we wanted to hop in a time-travelling phone booth so that we could watch more of Bill & Ted Face The Music sooner than bogus pandemic delays might have allowed. But at least the new, full trailer has now arrived.

The slacker pair, played by Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, return, and despite their seeming path to superstardom at the end of Bogus Journey, have never quite achieved their full potential. They're dads now, to daughters Thea (Samara Weaving) and Billie (Brigette Lundy), and mostly make ends meet playing weddings and other events. Most of the people around them don't believe their stories of youthful time-hopping and visits to the afterlife, but their mundane existence is interrupted by a summons to the future, where they are berated for not having written the song that is supposed to usher in a utopia. Despite the ability to travel in time, the clock is now ticking – and their kids, in trying to help, have also gotten themselves into trouble...

From the looks of this, there will be plenty of charm and entertainment value on display, and a welcome return for the likes of William Sadler as Death. Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson are back on script duty, while Dean Parisot directs. The film arrives in the US on 1 September in cinemas (the ones that are open, at least) and, reassuringly, on VOD. That means it'll likely shift from the original 28 August slot here in the UK, but we're still waiting for a confirmed date.
