Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman was utterly mortified when he came offstage from making his acceptance speech and realised he'd forgotten to thank his girlfriend, Mimi O'Donnell. Hilary Swank, who presented him with his Oscar, made the same mistake with her husband in 2000 and so felt like she could at least pat Hoffman manfully on the shoulder: "Oh, I know. No one forgot like I forgot," she laughed. "But people will understand, they really will. You can't kick yourself over it." Let's hope ol' Capote has a second Oscar chance to make amends, as Swank did last year.
