First he stayed at Hotel Rwanda and now he's moving into Hotel For Dogs - it's clear that you just can't keep Don Cheadle away from anywhere with room service. Except that, as hotel movies go (and which of us doesn't love that particular sub-genre?) these two couldn't be more different.
Hotel For Dogs is based on a 1971 book about two orphaned teens who hide dozens of stray dogs in an abandoned hotel. Cheadle plays the beleaguered social worker who tries to keep the pair out of trouble. We foresee at least one scene where Cheadle's trying to be all official and is almost swept off his feet by a horde of dogs running around him.
The film's due to start shooting in November, with newcomer Thor Freudenthal directing. He previously made some short films that met with success, and was also second-unit director on The Haunted Mansion, aka Proof That Not Every Ride At Disneyland Can Inspire Great Filmmaking. In the meantime, watch out for Cheadle in Talk To Me (not to be confused with Talk To Her, Something To talk About or Talk To Me: Hostage Negotiators of the NYPD, a TV movie of 1996).
