He’s fought baddies on a boat. He’s punched people on planes. and now Liam Neeson is back in action with a snowplough in Cold Pursuit – except, in our exclusive image from the film he’s swapped his vehicle for a massive sniper rifle. The film stars Neeson as Nels Coxman, a man on – you guessed it – a rampage of revenge, tracking down the drug dealers he believes to be responsible for the death of his son.

If that set-up sounds oddly familiar, you might well have seen it before – the film is a remake of 2014 Norwegian film In Order Of Disappearance, and even more curiously also comes from that film's director, Hans Petter Moland. Speaking to Empire in the January 2019 issue, on sale on Thursday 29 November, Moland explained his reasons for the remake. “It was a little bit like if you put on a play in Norway and somebody asks you to bring it to Broadway. It’s a chance to speak to a different audience,” he says. And then there’s the Big Liam of it all. “Liam was part of the suggested set-up, and that made it attractive and tempting.”

Cold Pursuit is due to clear a path to UK cinemas on 22 February 2019 – and you can read more about it in Empire’s Alita: Battle Angel issue.
