The initial pictures for the fourth season of The Crown already tipped us off to expect plenty of the story of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer – AKA the future Princess Di – and the latest teaser for the season certainly cements that.

Full of talk about fairytale stories and the adventure of getting married, the teaser is loaded with irony, since we know how the story ends for those two, and the marital struggles faced by other members of the Royal Family. And the official synopsis reads as: "As the 1970s are drawing to a close, Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and her family find themselves preoccupied with safeguarding the line of succession by securing an appropriate bride for Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), who is still unmarried at 30. While Charles’ romance with a young Lady Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin) provides a much-needed fairytale to unite the British people, as the transformation from teenager to Princess of Wales takes place, it is anything but a fairytale for Diana."

The other big new addition for the series, an impressive-looking Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, the latest Prime Minister for the Queen to deal with. Season 4, which marks the end of the current cast's run on the show, will arrive on Netflix on 15 November.
