It has been 13 long years since Todd Field directed a film, but it's not for want of trying, as projects have come and gone. One he's been trying to make for a while now is The Creed Of Violence, and he may finally be on the right track as Daniel Craig is set to star, according to Collider.

Field was first attached to write the adaptation of Boston Teran's novel in 2011, and agreed to direct it shortly afterward. The story is set on the Mexican-American border in 1910, where a criminal called Rawbone buys a truckload of arms to take to Mexico where revolution is brewing. Nicked by the Bureau of Investigation, he is coerced into going through with his plan as an undercover agent, accompanied by Agent John Lourdes – who has a secret history with Rawbone.

Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale have considered the role of Rawbone in the past, and Field nearly had the cameras rolling in 2013 when the funds came in, but the movie never actually worked out. Perhaps now he'll actually get to make the film, and he's searching for other actors to fill out the cast.

Craig had actually been attached to another frustrated project of Field's, TV adaptation Purity, drawn from Jonathan Franzen's novel. It's possible they could get that one going again after finishing work on Violence. The actor is part of the cast for Rian Johnson's Knives Out and is expected back in his tux (assuming the movie actually gears up) for the next Bond movie this year.
