Die, Damn You!

Immortal they may be, but you'd really thing that, at this point, the Highlander protagonists would have finally released their grip on life. However, eternal trickster that fate is, the franchise has at least one gasp left and a fifth flogging of the series is now going into production. Joyously daft eighties romp that it was, Highlander attracted quite a following with immortal Scot Connor Macleod (played by Frenchman, Christopher Lambert) and equally long-lived Egyptian (played by Scot, Sean Connery) prancing around cutting off people's heads. An even more ridiculous sequel was subsequently excised from the mythology to make way for Highlanders 3 and 4, the latter of which combined popular TV spin-off series star Adrian Paul. Given the total lack of success (and in the fourth case, lack of theatrical release) experienced by the franchise's progressively poor offspring, we can't imagine what would possess them to make a fifth. Still, no one said Hollywwod was a sensible place and, according to a release from Davis/Panzer productions - owners of the franchise - the next feature is about to enter production with filming destined to begin in 2003. As to whether Adrian Paul, Christopher Lambert or any other familiar faces will appear, no one knows, nor have any plot details been disclosed. Lets just hope there can be only one more.
