With Christmas approaching like a speeding reindeer, people are busy watching Die Hard, which is, as proved by a recent Empire Podcast, demonstrably a Chrimbo movie. And now it's also been recognised as a film considered “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant”, as the National Film Registry, the system set up by America's Library of Congress has added it to the list it will be preserving for future generations.
Every year, the Library adds 25 titles to the list, and this time around the cut also includes The Goonies, 1978's Superman, La Bamba, Spartacus, Ace In The Hole and Christopher Nolan's Memento.
Sprinkled among the bigger names are some interesting oddities, including choreography chronicle Lives Of Performers from 1972 and 1905's Interior New York Subway, 14th Street to 42nd Street, which focuses on... Well, you can probably guess.
