Though we were all hoping that film releases would get back on track, the combined hit of Tenet's relatively low US income and the fact that cinemas in big markets such as New York and LA across the pond have yet to reopen is affecting studio plans. Now it appears that Disney is considering moving Black Widow from its planned November US date.
That would likely impact UK plans too, where the film is scheduled to arrive on 28 October. As of right now, it's only under consideration, but given that many of the bigger films, including Wonder Woman 1984 have shifted their dates in recent weeks, it's perhaps not surprising that Disney would gamble one of its big releases, especially after moving Mulan to a premium release on Disney+. Black Widow is still locked in as a cinema-only release, but there's a big chance it'll shift back to next year, probably replacing Eternals in February, which of course means the Marvel Cinematic Universe's schedule will be impacted.
Also under discussion? Pixar's Soul, which according to some reports might head to Disney+ (either premium or standard release), but Deadline has heard that it'll likely stay on the cinematic schedule, and may still see the light of day (or a projector) in November.
If Black Widow does move, that would leave No Time To Die as the only huge-budget movie still taking aim at cinemas before December.
