After getting a taste of the directorial life with 2009’s Whip It, Drew Barrymore seems interested in repeating the experience. She’s picked up another potential megaphone gig in the shape of caper movie The Heist Society. Barrymore is currently down to produce the film, but reportedly may also direct.

Warner Bros. nabbed the rights to Ally Carter’s book last year, and has been busy developing the adaptation.

Now Barrymore’s Whip It screenwriter Shauna Cross has written the script, which will follow a teenage girl trying to juggle her high school life with her family’s criminal world. She has to scramble to put a crew together to track down and steal back a powerful mobster’s art collection when her father is accused of nicking it in the first place.

From the sounds of it, **Heist Society **will jockey for position with How To Be Single, which Barrymore agreed to direct for New Line back in March. It’ll depend on which project is ready first, though we figure Single has more of a shot right now.
