While James Cameron has wrapped up a big chunk of shooting for the first couple of the approximately 164 Avatar sequels he has planned, he's still adding to the cast. Cameron and his team announced via Twitter that Edie Falco will be playing a character called General Ardmore.

She's the commander of the Resources Development Administration, a quasi-governmental organisation more powerful and better equipped than most of the Earth's actual governments. It has a monopoly on anything discovered or extracted from Pandora, and naturally this has brought them into conflict with the native Na'vi. The end of the first Avatar saw them driven away, but you just know they'll be back.

The story of the new movies will follow the family of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), plus other tribes we've yet to meet, including those based around and in the oceans of the moon world.

Avatar 2 is currently still scheduled for 18 December 2020, and you can learn more about the sequels right here
