Having broken through in a big way on to the film scene with the excellent, acclaimed Eighth Grade, Bo Burnham will be tackling something that aims a little earlier in the school experience. According to Deadline, he's contributing songs to the Sesame Street movie that has Anne Hathaway starring alongside Big Bird and the gang.
Jonathan Krisel is on board to direct the big screen take on the classic muppet educational series, and with word on Burnham comes more details on the plot from a script that has seen work by Barry Schwartz, Chris Galletta and Mike Rosolio. The story will see BB and his Street friends mysteriously expelled from their neighborhood, finding themselves in Manhattan. They team up with plucky history show host Sally Hawthorne (Hathaway), who’s on a quest to save her show and prove that Sesame Street actually exists, with obstacles created by the "evil" Mayor, with reasons of his own for keeping Sesame Street hidden from the world.
The film will be on screens in January 2021. Burnham has spun the success of his movie into other projects, including an untitled teen dramedy he wrote and will produce with Amy York Rubin directing and a role in new thriller Promising Young Woman alongside Carey Mulligan, which hails from Killing Eve season 2 boss Emerald Fennell.
