Christmas might be fast turning into a fuzzy memory for most of us, but Elizabeth Banks wants to keep the festive season in mind for a while yet. She and her production company have just sold a film pitch about Mrs. Claus to Universal.

John Riggi, a writer and producer who regularly works on TV (and most recently oversaw Rebel Wilson’s sitcom Super Fun Night), has come up with the idea, which will explore the joy and strain of being married to Father Christmas, particularly in the stressful month before Christmas Eve.

So far, there’s no word on whether Banks will be involved beyond producing via her Brownstone Productions company, which she runs with husband Max Handelman, but there’s always a chance this could be developed as a starring role for her, or even a directing job given her success with Pitch Perfect 2.

Banks is currently preparing to direct Pitch Perfect 3, which will reunite Wilson with Anna Kendrick and some of her other regular co-stars. She’s also developing a new version of Charlie’s Angels and fantasy novel adaptation Red Queen.
