While it was looking like the Fantastic Beasts films would be arriving like clockwork every two years, a spanner has been thrown into the gears with news that the latest, still-untitled instalment needs more script work and pre-production time. That means the third film will now head to cinemas in November 2021.

Warner Bros. made the announcement today, and while there were no specific details on behind the scenes duties or casting, JK Rowling is writing the script again and director David Yates is likely to return for this latest trip through the Wizarding World with magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne).

"JK Rowling created an awe-inspiring universe that has captivated people of all ages, taking us on an extraordinary magical journey," says the studio's Theatrical Distribution president Ron Sanders. "Warner Bros. is so proud to be the cinematic home of the Wizarding World and is excited about the future of the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We look forward to bringing the third chapter of the five-film series to audiences around the globe in November 2021."

The cameras should be rolling next spring, but fans will have to be that much more patient in waiting for the next movie.
