Way back when, deep in the mists of history (okay, just 2010), at a time when Guillermo del Toro was close to making At The Mountains Of Madness, he agreed to work with DreamWorks Animation as a producer and consultant. Part of the deal was him bringing a movie called Trollhunters to the screen. That hasn't happened quite the way he expected, but the idea is now a Netflix TV series, and the first look image is lurking above.

Though it was fully intended to be a film, the concept stalled in development. To give the story a push, del Toro worked with Daniel Kraus to turn it into an illustrated novel, which hit shelves last summer. And Netflix finally made the announcement that it was extending its deal with DreamWorks in January to include both a new Voltron 'toon and the Trollhunters series.

There's no date for the series to premiere yet, but it'll be before the end of the year. And beyond the graphic novel's premise, not much is known about how the series will bring the story to the screen, though the idea for the story says it will "unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around the residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia who make a startling discovery that the world beneath their hometown is as vast and mind-blowing as anything on the surface." So now you know.
