A new film from Martin Scorsese was always going to be an event, and Netflix used a commercial break during this year's Oscars to launch, if not the first look, then certainly a teasing audio glimpse of The Irishman. See the teaser below.

The film, adapted from Charles Brandt’s novel I Heard You Paint Houses by Steven Zaillian, tells the story of hitman Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro), who alleged on his deathbed to have committed the unsolved murder of American Teamster union leader Jimmy Hoffa.

Given that it features digital de-aged versions of stars including De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, it's perhaps not all that shocking that there's not much of the film to see yet. But we do get to hear a little from it, and that cast... Harvey Keitel, Jack Huston, Jesse Plemons and Anna Paquin are just a few of the others popping up in this one.

Netflix is releasing the film in cinemas and on its streaming service this autumn.
