With all the chaos surrounding its 2021 release plan to shunt all of its movies to HBO Max at the same time as they arrive in cinemas, it can be easy to forget that Warner Bros. has movies further down the road. And from the looks of its latest announcement, its 2023 schedule will all be in cinemas only, including George Miller's Furiosa.

The Mad Max: Fury Road prequel will find Anya Taylor-Joy taking over the title character of Furiosa, with Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also in the cast. It is currently targeting a 23 June, 2023 slot.

Coyote Vs. Acme, meanwhile, is a live-action/CG hybrid which sees the Roadrunner's nemesis taking on the mail order supplier whose products he always tries (and spectacularly fails) to use against the speedy bird. That film is aiming for a 21 July, 2023 release.

And finally, we have the planned musical adaptation of The Color Purple, bringing the stage show to the screen. The movie has an awards-qualifying date set for 20 December, 2023, with Blitz Bazawule directing and Oprah Winfrey producing.

Warners has said that the plan for movies to debut on HBO Max the same day as their cinematic release is only for next year (and in the US right now). In related news, rumours are swirling that co-production partners Legendary are looking at ways to preserve Dune's "franchise potential" by letting it premiere exclusively in cinemas.
