Now that his Fury Road legal wrangles with Warner Bros. are behind him, and he's wrapped filming on romantic drama Three Thousand Years Of Longing, George Miller is switching his focus to Furiosa, which will see Anya Taylor-Joy playing a younger version of Charlize Theron's character from Miller's last trip to the Mad Max universe. And, at a press conference to formerly announce the film, the director shared some new details.

We say "announce", of course, but Miller is already well ahead on preparations for the new movie, with vehicles built and stunt teams working on what we firmly expect will be impressive, chaotic action. Shooting is scheduled to kick off later this year in Sydney and the Broken Hill Region of New South Wales once Longing has had its journey through the post-production process.

Furiosa, which also features Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, will feature a different timeline to the previous film. "Whereas Fury Road essentially happened over three days and two nights, this happens over many years,” he says. ”You try to make films that are ‘uniquely familiar. This will be familiar to those people who know Mad Max, and in particular Fury Road, but also it will be unique." For more from Miller, head to theSydney Morning Herald's site.
