Greenland

Gerard Butler and director Ric Roman Waugh are forming quite the filmmaking duo, having worked on Angel Has Fallen and now Greenland (with action pic Kandahar in development). Greenland is next up for release, and the trailer has landed online.

Banish thoughts of Butler punching a walrus, though – the title is the destination he's looking to reach. As an unstoppable comet hurtles towards a devastating collision with Earth, John Garrity (Butler), along with his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and young son Nathan, must make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary. Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being levelled by the comet’s fragments, the Garritys experience the best and worst in humanity while they battle the increasing panic and lawlessness surrounding them. As the countdown to global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.

The trailer doesn't list a specific date, but Greenland is aiming to be in UK cinemas this August.
