Thanks to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and Gwen Stacey, Hailee Steinfeld has already played a Marvel character. But she's closing in on a role in the MCU – or, for now, the MCU-adjacent batch of new Disney+ series, as Variety reports she's been offered the role of Kate Bishop in Hawkeye.

Jeremy Renner is back as Clint Barton, and the show will see him training Kate up in the arts of the archer. In the comicbooks, she took over the mantle of Hawkeye, so there's every chance she's in line to take over in the MCU going forward.

Mad Men's Jonathan Igla was just hired to to write and produce the show, which we're expecting will debut in autumn 2021 on Disney+ as part of Marvel's Phase Four. You can find out more about the various shows here.

As for Steinfeld, she'll be seen in Apple's Dickinson, playing Emily Dickinson. She's also part of the cast for the Between Two Ferns movie, due on Netflix later this month and has its first trailer online.
