Drew Barrymore and finac Tom Green narrowly escaped being burned alive early on Sunday morning (18 February) when a fire broke out in their Beverly Hills home. The pair were saved however, by the noble efforts of their dog Flossie who alerted the sleeping couple to the danger. A spokesman for Barrymore stated that the pair owed their lives to Flossie’s keen instincts, after the dog, upon discovering the flames, ran to the couple’s bedroom barking and banging against the door. Flossie, a former stray rescued from the streets of LA two years ago by Barrymore, escaped uninjured with her owners. Sixty firefighters fought the blaze for an hour before finally bringing it under control, but not before the fire did an estimated $700,000 worth of damage to the property, completely gutting the top floor. The Charlie’s Angels star assured reporters at the scene that she and her fiancée were absolutely fine, "Other than the fact that the home burned down," added Green. Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
