Hot Wheels Movie Back On The Ramp

Hot Wheels

Some ideas are just too tempting for Hollywood to turn down. Despite years spent spinning its wheels in the development garage, the plan to make a movie based on the Hot Wheels toy car line keeps popping up in new forms since the original idea was shoved across someone's desk in 2003, and now Warner Bros. has a deal with Mattel to rev the movie up.

As mentioned, this one has been stalled for more than a decade, with directors such as McG and Simon Crane getting behind the wheel then jumping out as nothing came of the concept. Most recently, Legendary had the rights, and Fast & Furious veteran Justin Lin was ready to turn his attention to much smaller vehicles. That version didn't work out either.

Now Warners and Mattel think they have what it takes to bring a live-action film to screens, though there are zero details on a writer or director to make it happen just yet. Still, as more and more toy lines spawn movies, Hot Wheels doesn't want to get left in the dust.
