So Diamond Select Toys today revealed their new line of Minimates figures (or LEGO characters who have eaten too many pies, for the uninitiated) and, as the company is quick to point out - andMTV draws attention to - they contain some new characters only glimpsed in silhouette in the trailers thus far.
Yes, if you scoot down to the bottom picture, those are robo-drones styled after the branches of the US military standing around ol' Tin Head, bristling with weapons. And in the latest trailer, it looks like Tony Stark and Jim Rhodes (in his War Machine suit) are fighting off a horde of the metallic mercenaries.
Can't think how they come about: it's not like there's a military-supplying weapons manufactured named Justin Hammer, played by Sam Rockwell in the film. Oh, hang on…
It's not unknown for toys to spoil surprises, but we sort of wish Marvel had made the Diamond Select crew hold these back a bit longer. Still, they're out there now, and on Twitter, Jon Favreau himself has commented, "The toys don't lie…" Or do they? No. Do they? Oooh… Our brains hurt.
