After years in development as a movie, anime series Cowboy Bebop was announced as a live-action project for Netflix a couple of years ago. It's been floating in development space since then, but it's moving forward, with the cast to include John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda and Alex Hassell.

The series, which has an initial 10-episode order, finds Spike Spiegel (Cho), Jet Black (Shakir), Faye Valentine (Pineda) and Radical Ed, a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world for the right price. Hassell is on as Vicious, a dreaded assassin who also happens to be Spike's former partner and arch-rival.

With the original anime's director Shinichiro Watanabe on as consultant, the series, from Tomorrow Studios, has Christopher Yost on board to write the first episode and run the show.
