John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum

If you were thinking that Keanu Reeves' John Wick would be back in 2021, studio Lionsgate has just delivered an unpleasant, but predictable reality check. John Wick: Chapter 4, which had been scheduled for next May, will instead arrive in 2022.

It's just the latest round of Coronavirus-induced release date shifting, with Lionsgate next on the list of companies announcing changes. Wick will now arrive a year later than originally scheduled, on 27 May, 2022 – a shift no doubt mandated by the fact that the widespread production shutdowns mean Reeves will need to find time to finish his work on the fourth Matrix film before he can think about jumping back into the Wick world. This also means that there's no longer a direct clash between the sequels. Not that we thought that situation would actually stay, even without the mitigating world circumstances.

Also being juggled? Action-comedy sequel The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, which will push back a year from this August to August 2021, Saw-connected horror Spiral, on the move to 21 May, 2021 and thriller Antebellum (which had yet to lock in its UK release), shifting in the States to 21 August this year.

Not moving right now (mostly because it has already shifted so much) is long-gestating sci-fi adaptation Chaos Walking, which had originally been set for last year, but switched to January 2021 a while ago because of delays from re-shooting.
