The unexpected next step in the world of ace TV drama The Sopranos was revealed by creator David Chase last year, with him planning big screen prequel The Many Saints Of Newark. Casting has been gearing up on the movie, and Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga are the latest additions.

Alessandro Nivola is starring, playing Richard "Dickie" Moltisanti, long deceased by the time of the show's run and a key part of turning a small gang into the powerful New Jersey crime family eventually inherited by Tony Soprano.

Variety's report offered no details on what Bernthal or Farmiga will play in the show, but it's good to see Chase and director Alan Taylor loading up on solid actors.

Bernthal will be back in The Punisher's second season, hitting Netflix on 18 January and reviewed by us right here. Farmiga has Godzilla: King Of The Monsters due on 31 May.
