We learned back in November last year that Judd Apatow was going achingly topical for his next film, his first for Netflix. We now know more of the details, and the director has scooped up a big ensemble cast for The Bubble, which will include Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan, Keegan-Michael Key, Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, David Duchovny, Leslie Mann and Peter Serafinowicz.

The Bubble, which Apatow wrote with Pam Brady, follows a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film. Inspiration apparently struck after Apatow learned of the experiences of those shooting Jurassic World: Dominion, with its quarantining protocols and stop-start production delays after positive Covid tests. Gillan and Pascal will play a made-up franchise’s stars while Mann and Duchovny will play a once married acting duo now forced to quarantine under one roof. And there is no direct connection to Dominion...

Apatow will start the cameras cranking next week.
