Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze have collaborated twice, cranking out the marvels of cinematic mind-screwage that are Being John Malkovich and Adaptation. But the latter came out in 2002, and since then we’ve been wondering if they’d ever team up again. Well, if you’ve been wondering the same thing, good news! They’re attached to an untitled satire that reads like something out of The Men who Stare at Goats writer Jon Ronson’s dreams.

Kaufman and Jonze have apparently been out pitching the project to likely financiers, and while details are still scarce, Deadline has heard that the film will follow how world leaders get together to figure out the timetable for big world events and details such as wars and the price of oil.

So who is the hero that could just be helping the world enjoy more Kaufman/Jonze madness? Step forward Megan Ellison, who has been causing ripples recently thanks to putting up money to help John Hillcoat’s The Wettest County in the World, Andrew Dominik’s Cogan’s Trade and, reportedly, offering Paul Thomas Anderson funding for two of his current projects. Her company Annapurna is currently negotiating to nab the rights to Kaufman and Jonze’s script. And if the name sounds familiar, it’s because she’s the sister of film/plane obsessed fellow heir David Ellison, who backed True Grit and is currently trying to get a **Top Gun **sequel off the ground.

While it’s early days, we’re hoping this one makes it through to the screen.
