Way back in 2019, we learned the slightly surprising news that Ben Wheatley – normally better known for films such as Kill List, High Rise and Free Fire had agreed to direct a big studio film – a sequel, no less – with Tomb Raider 2. That is no longer the case, as the MGM action pic is now in the hands of Lovecraft Country creator Misha Green.

Green, who also created the TV series Underground, is set to write and make her feature directorial debut with the continuing adventures of Lara Croft (played again by Alicia Vikander), following the 2018 movie that introduced the latest take on the character. And while she hasn't directed a movie before, Green has overseen an episode of Lovecraft Country. She tweeted about the news today.

Obviously, given the creative reset, the movie doesn't have a release date right now.
