Legend Of Tarzan

With Harry Potter man David Yates at the helm and her so-hot-right-nowness Margot Robbie co-starring with Alexander Skarsgård, The Legend Of Tarzan has plenty of marketing firepower behind it. This new teaser – the ‘Wilderness’ trailer – narrows the film’s widescreen focus down to its two leads, Tarzan and Jane. Okay, and one or two of its jungle critters too. And Christoph Waltz. And Skarsgård’s newly-discovered extra abs. Lots of stuff, basically. Take a look below.

Set for the most part in the 1880s in the wake of Darwin’s (r)evolutionary Origins Of The Species, Yates’ take on Edgar Rice Burroughs' jungle-hero-turned-Edwardian gent has big themes running alongside its exploitative colonists (Waltz), opportunistic hunters (Samuel L. Jackson) and violent tribal armies mobilised to nefarious ends. Separated early in the story, Tarzan and Robbie’s equally strong-willed Jane must navigate their way through all this peril to reunite.

“Just after Potter I was reading so many scripts that felt familiar,” explains Yates of the movie’s origins, "then I got Tarzan and I didn’t want to do it because I thought I knew it, but it surprised me. I fell in love with the fact that it felt very epic and romantic and it had themes that felt very connected to know. All the scripts I was being sent felt like they were one colour, but this had so many.”

Yates will also have John Hurt and Djimon Hounsou aboard when the movie debuts in the UK on July 6.
