In January last year, word began to surface that Denzel Washington was narrowing in on his next directorial gig. He's made his choice, and has Michael B. Jordan in talks to star in Journal For Jordan.

Mudbound's Virgil Williams has been adapting Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy's relationship with a soldier named Charles Monroe King. Deployed overseas in combat zones, he began writing a journal full of life lessons for their newborn son Jordan, which blossomed into a 200-page tome in 2005. In a tragic twist, he was killed by a roadside bomb a year later, when Jordan was just seven months old.

Jordan – the actor, not the kid – has also agreed to co-produce the film, which Washington was on to produce even before he made his final decision to direct. We're certainly expecting big things from this duo.

Next up for the actor is legal drama Just Mercy, which will be out on next year. He's also working on TV series Raising Dion and has signed on to play Tom Clancy character John Clark in Without Remorse.
