Michael Fassbender In Talks For Trance

It would seem that Michael Fassbender is looking to keep filling his Panini sticker book of Big Name Directors. Because even as he works on Ridley Scott’s Alien-adjacent sci-fi pic Prometheus, he’s entering talks to star in Danny Boyle’s just-announced thriller Trance.

Boyle’s film is odd in that the director plans to kick off shooting the art heist thriller in September, then let the footage sit on a shelf while he works on co-ordinating the 2012 London Olympic opening ceremony before picking Trance’s raw materials back up and editing it ready for a March 2013 release. With Fassbender attached, we figure it’ll only be a matter of time before someone – most likely Boyle’s regular collaborators at Fox Searchlight – rounds up the funds to get it made.

It’s been a busy few years for Fassbender, a popular actor who has worked with the likes of Quentin Tarantino, David Cronenberg, Steven Soderbergh, Neil Marshall, Matthew Vaughn and Steve McQueen and has the likes of Jim Jarmusch and Guy Ritchie as possible future options.

The actor will next be seen in X-Men: First Class as Erik Lensherr, before cropping up in Soderbergh’s action thriller Haywire.
