When September hits, we’re basically on countdown: what’s the earliest it’s acceptable to stick on The Muppet Christmas Carol? The answer is, it’s officially still too soon – but how about some spooky new Muppet goodness instead? We’ve had Muppets Most Wanted – now get ready for Muppets Most Haunted, as Kermit, Miss Piggy and co. visit a legendary Disneyland attraction in upcoming Disney+ special Muppets Haunted Mansion.

The one-off episode is directed and co-written by Kirk R. Thatcher – also behind recent Disney+ series Muppets Now and the screenplay for '90s favourite Muppet Treasure Island – with appearances from various members of everyone’s favourite fuzzy-felt puppet family, as well as a raft of celebrity guests. Set on Halloween night, it centres on Gonzo as he dares to spend the night in The Haunted Mansion. While he’s there, can he nudge somebody into making Guillermo del Toro’s dormant Haunted Mansion movie finally happen, please? Take a look at the official poster here:

The spooky fun begins on 8 October – one week after the LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales special also hits Disney+. It may be time to play the music – but for this one, we’re dimming the lights… And on 9 October? You just try to stop us sticking on The Muppet Christmas Carol.
