A nightmare-fuelled poster riffing on Manet's Gates Of Hell has been released by 20th Century Fox via Twitter for the hotly-anticipated Alien: Covenant. Accompanying the image is the simple, ominous text: ‘The path to paradise begins in Hell’. Take a look at the image below:

The striking new poster (and what a run they've had so far...) depicts a collection of the terrifying Xenomorphs clambering over victims of the dreaded facehugger, as well as each other. And is that an Alien Queen (last seen in 2004’s Alien Vs. Predator) lurking in the top left corner?

We’ll find out on May 12, when Alien: Covenant worms its way into cinemas. Ridley Scott’s latest stars the returning Michael Fassbender, as well as Alien franchise newbies Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Danny McBride, and more. Remind yourself of the official synopsis below:

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
