The details about the still-untitled sequel to last year's Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (Fantastic Beasts And No, Honestly, Did You Check That One Drawer?, perhaps?) have been arriving in little bits, but now, as filming gets underway, the information dump can be compared to a magician pulling handkerchiefs from his sleeve. We now know that Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Ingvar Sigurdsson, Olafur Darri Olafsson and Kevin Guthrie are all joining the cast.
David Yates has started rolling the cameras on the movie, written once again by Potter creator J.K. Rowling. And now we also have the basic story synopsis, though if you're attempting to avoid spoilers (albeit mild ones), you might want to skip the next paragraph...
The film opens in 1927, a few months after the first, and the capture of the infamous Gellert Grindewald (Johnny Depp). After making good on his pledge to escape, Grindewald is out in the world again and gathering more followers to his dark cause. It's up to Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) to track him down, with the help of former student Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). This time, the setting is Paris and London, and some of the new cast arrivals will be part of a wizarding circus. Kim (Avengers: Age Of Ultron) is a young woman working as an attraction, while The White King's Olafsson runs the place. Nadylam is listed as a wizard named Yusuf Kama, Sigurdsson is a bounty hunter and Guthrie plays Abernathy, head of the Magical Congress of the USA.
Redmayne is joined by the returning Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller and Zoe Kravitz (as Leta Lestrange, glimpsed in a moving photograph and tied to Newt's past).
Whatever it ends up being called, the Fantastic Beasts sequel will be out on 16 November next year.
