Noah Baumbach Finds Frances Ha

With the sort of crafty, under-the-radar behaviour usually reserved for the likes of JJ Abrams, Greenberg director Noah Baumbach has quietly shot his latest film, Frances Ha and will be debuting it at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Co-written by and starring Greta Gerwig, Frances Ha finds an aspiring dancer moving to New York and discovering that both friendships and love come in various different forms. Struggling to make her career dreams come true, she’s also worried about her future.

Shooting in black and white, Baumbach and Gerwig have managed to keep this one fairly quiet, though they’ve both dropped hints about a new project. We just didn’t expect it to be finished quite so quickly.

With the film premiering in Toronto, the first pictures are also online and you can check them out below.

The film hasn’t been picked up for distribution yet, but given the real-life couple’s past work (and the presence of Scott Rudin as producer), we’d expect that to change once companies get a look at the movie in Canada.
