Nobody

We've become used to seeing Bob Odenkirk as the morally dubious Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman in Better Call Saul – a role for which he's more associated with fast-talking than delivering punishing smackdowns. And before that, he was best known as a comedian. But in Nobody, he's poised to go tough-nut in a way we've never seen from him. And we're not just talking the odd punch-up – he's going full Baba Yaga here in a manner that few would have predicted. The first trailer for the action thriller is online, so take a look at Odenkirk as a Breaking Bad-ass.

Directed by Hardcore Henry's Ilya Naishuller, Nobody finds Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell, a suburban family man. When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend himself or his family, hoping to prevent serious violence. His teenage son, Blake (Gage Munroe), is disappointed in him and his wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen), seems to pull only further away.

The aftermath of the incident strikes a match to Hutch’s long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills. In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tires, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous adversary (Aleksey Serebryakov) — and ensure that he will never be underestimated as a nobody again.

Looking to please the John Wick crowd (it's written by that franchise's regular scribe Derek Kolstad), Nobody offers up the chance for some serious action. With Christopher Lloyd also in the cast, the film will be out in the UK on 5 March next year.
