With the success of the likes of Lost and 24 on US telly, the new shows in development are all looking for that special gimmick – and itching to drag in some film-level talent behind the cameras.
Friday Night Lights helmer Peter Berg is able to deliver both – he’s teaming up with writers Larry Malkin and Chad Thurmann for Deadline, a new TV thriller.
The plot will follow a rolling conspiracy plot a la Jack Bauer and co, but the trick here is that it’s told in reverse, much like Memento. And it’s not Berg’s first foray into the goggle box – a drama he produced and launched based on Lights started screening in the US this month.
