Director Pierre Morel rarely seems happier than when he's cooking up a big new action film and he has another in the works, in the shape of The Blacksmith.

This new movie, which Source Code's Ben Ripley is adapting from Malik Evans and Richard Sparkman's graphic novel, follows Wes Loomis, who is known as the intelligence community's weapons expert. When his covert lab is destroyed and his colleagues murdered, he must go on the run, relying on only his special set of technological skills to stay alive as he journeys into the dark heart of his own profession.

Given the specialist skills angle and Morel's history with Taken, you could almost picture Liam Neeson in the role, but he might not want to take on something quite so close to the movie that launched his latter-years action career.

Morel will have the cameras rolling next year.
