Not content at wowing the critics in the stage version of the Pulitzer-winning play Proof in London this year, it seems that Gwyneth Paltrow is set to take her applauded theatre role to the silver screen. Obviously knowing a good character when she sees it – she has already been nominated for Best Actress for the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards – Paltrow is expected to repeat her portrayal of the troubled daughter of a once brilliant Chicago mathematician, which was described by even the sniffiest of British theatre critics as "compelling" and "almost flawless." To add even more talent to the proceedings, Miramax films have recruited filmmaker Rebecca Miller – yep, that would be the daughter of revered American playwright Arthur Miller and wife of Daniel Day Lewis - to rewrite the script for the screen. The project is also expected to re-team Paltrow with the director of the original stage play and a little film called Shakespeare in Love, John Madden. When luvvies unite, Oscars will surely follow.
