Radha Mitchell will join everyone's favourite Hitman - wait, better say everyone's favourite sheriff from Deadwood, Timothy Olyphant, for Breck Eisner's remake of George Romero's 1973 horror The Crazies.

Although this version will take only some elements of the original, it will still follow the normal small town folk, who are suddenly rendered either crazy in the coconuts or dead when a biological weapon contaminates their water supply. The military wade in to try and contain it, while Olyphant, who will play the town's sheriff, investigates the series of unfortunate events. It is rumoured that Mitchell will play his wife.

Mitchell, who is best known to horror and gaming fans as Rose from Silent Hill, is up next in Surrogates with Bruce Willis, and also started out (most notably, many would say) as Cassandra in Australian tea-time soap Neighbours.

The Crazies is due out on September 25.
