Lest you start thinking we had some sort of stroke in the middle of writing the headline for this story – yes, Simon Pegg and Minnie Driver are really starring in Nandor Fodor And The Talking Mongoose, which has just kicked off shooting and sounds like it could have been taken from the pages of Fortean Times.

Writer/director Adam Sigal's new darkly comic tale is based on true events and will find Pegg as Nandor Fodor – the Hungarian-American psychoanalyst, known as the father of parapsychology – on his search to discover the real Talking Mongoose, “Gef.” Driver will play Fodor’s assistant Anne, who journeys with him into uncharted territory.

Tim Downie, Ruth Connell, Paul Kaye, Gary Beadle and Drew Moerlin are all in the cast for this one, which is filming in Leeds.

"Nandor Fodor And The Talking Mongoose is such a unique story that I couldn’t believe it was true,” says Sigal. “There’s nobody else other than Simon who could embody this character and take us on this insane journey." No word yet on when this one will emerge – who how "Gef" will be brought to life, but you can read more about the real case right here.
