UPDATE: The full official trailer has since dropped – watch it here, and read the original story below.

Looking for a little bit of good news as we enter the third month of lockdown? Well here's som: we’re less than a month away from a brand new Spike Lee joint. Da 5 Bloods, his first movie since BlacKkKlansman, is coming to Netflix in the middle of June, and sees the legendary filmmaker teaming up with the likes of Chadwick Boseman and Clarke Peters for a Vietnam war story. While its release isn’t far away, glimpses at the movie have so far been scarce – but the director just shared a pre-trailer teaser, giving our best look yet at what’s in store. Give it a watch here.

If you can get past the clunky cropping, this looks like it could be another vital film from Lee – told across two time periods, following a group of soldiers in Vietnam as they hide a stash of gold while on duty, and then return in their later years to dig it up and find the remains of their fallen squad leader. It looks like each strand has been shot in a different aspect ratio, with the flashback sequences shot with a beautifully grainy film texture.

Stay tuned for the full trailer which should drop in the near future, and find Da 5 Bloods streaming on Netflix from 12 June.
